Lazer zone this Saturday!

We're headed to Ada on Saturday (about 3pm) to go to Lazer zone and then we'll check out wintersmith park and the lights there.  Lazer zone has lazer tag, bowling, arcades, and miniture golf, probably something else too.  We'll eat dinner there so be sure to bring some money for food (probably around $15-$20 for everything).  It will be fun.

Free Coat and Shoe Giveaway

For two weekends, the kids gave away coats, shoes, and hot chocolate.  We helped several families in the community and the kids did a wonderful job.  There were several tasks that had to be done to get this project going and run successful and the kids met that challenge.  If you know of anybody that is still in need of coats or shoes, let us know.

5th Quarter

5th Quarter is hopefully a new tradition that we are starting here in the town of Stuart.  After every home game we are going to host a meal for the girls and boys basketball teams.  Just a little reminder to show them how much we care about them.  A good time for the community of Stuart to come together and eat some good food and have a good time.  Go Stuart Hornets!

Robbers Cave Retreat!

On November 13th 10 of us headed over to Wilburton to go to a youth retreat at Robbers Cave.  We sang a few goofy songs, suffered from some caffine withdraws, and didn't get much sleep, but over all we had a great time getting to know some other kids from around here and we took time to consider how God has TRANSFORMED our lives, and we have to make sure we stick out in this world by NOT conforming to everyone else...

It wasn't the Ramada but it was home... at least for a night or two.

Since the theme was TRANSFORMERS, we built our own transformer.  But there were 4 different teams that built it.  1 team built an arm and a leg, another team built the other arm and leg, and another the head, and one built the torso.  We didn't know what the other team was building so needless to say it looked a little wierd.  In fact, I didn't even want to take a picture of it... well actually I forgot.

We also did a little rock climbing at the Robbers Cave... that was fun.  There were no injuries, and for that I was both shocked and thankful.

Happy Birthday Jessie!

Happy 94th Birthday Jessie! We had a celebration this morning for one of our young ladies in our congregation. She turned the young age of 94. Just wanted to let you know that we love you and are so lucky to be able to worship with such a lovely Christian woman.

Haywood Tournament Champions

Congratulations to the Stuart Boys 5th & 6th grade for taking home the championship this past weekend at the Haywood Tournament. You guys played great! You are true winners on the inside and outside.

Hope Harbor

A group of kids (5) and Kelley headed to Hope Harbor this past weekend to drop off school supplies. The church here has been collecting supplies for about two months. The kids were more than willing to see them get transported to the right location. Everybody had a ton of fun with a lot of basketball and dodge ball being played as well. We hope that we can go back and see them real soon.

Trunk or Treat

On Saturday, October 31st, we are having a trunk or treat in the parking lot at the church from 5pm-8pm or until the candy runs out. I thought I would put a little more information on here for those of you that have never been to a trunk or treat. We are asking the congregation to either bring their cars/trunks or pickup beds to church and pass out candy to the kids. The cars will be parked in a circle with their trunks all facing towards the middle. Having your trunks/pickup beds decorated would be wonderful but is not necessary. If you don't want to decorate your trunks, don't let that discourage you from coming. You will have to purchase candy as well as pass out. Hot chocolate and maybe popcorn will be given out. If anybody would like to volunteer for that position please contact Kelley. Please come out and support this and let the town of Stuart know how much you care about kids.

Meat & Greet Outreach

We started a new program that we'll be doing every month called Meat & Greet Outreach. The idea is that we make an effort to reach out to those people that we haven't seen in a while in worship services. People need to know that they are appreciated and missed when they can't, or won't come to services. Being faithful to the assembly isn't just about attendance, it's also the fact that it is a missed opportunity to worship and to encourage each other. So this is an effort to do just that.

The next time we'll meet is November 5th at 6:30. Our menu is soups and salads so come out and join us in encouraging the sick, the lonely, and those that have gotten out of the habit of attending worship. See you there!

Women's Bible Study

The women at church have decided that we need to change the location of our bible study. Since we had an overwhelming amount of ladies interested in this study, it needs to be moved to the church building. So our next study will be held in the dining hall at 9:30 on September 21st. Rosie is in charge of drinks for this coming Monday. Looking forward to studying more out of the Book of Daniel!!!!!

Baby Shower for Baby Corley

Josh and Tera are expecting their 3rd child in November. A little baby shower was given for them this last Sunday. A couple of games were played that really tested our knowledge and the winners were Jade and Tera. Another games consisted of guessing how big Tera's belly is and here grandma Imogene won that one. Can't wait to see Baby Corley and so good to see you guys!

Baby Shower!!!

It's a party!!! Well, actually its a baby shower, but that might be a party to some. Tera Corley is expecting, and the ladies a the Stuart church of Christ would like to "shower" Tera and the new baby with all the things she'll need. The shower will be held at Lisa Clayton's house on Sunday (Sept. 13th) at 3 pm. If you'd like more details then either respond here, or just give Lisa a call.

work day sept 12th!

This Saturday morning (Sept. 12th) at 9am there will be a work day at the church. We'll be focusing on cleaning up the new building and getting it ready for completion, hopefull soon. However there is plenty to do around the outside of the buildings, as well as a few things inside the church building.

Here are a few thoughts on what we could tackle:
1. clean up scrap wood on the inside of the new building
2. move and arrange the cement car stops and white rock to be more presentable and easier to mow.
3. clean up the supply room
4. level rough spots on the driveways and alley

If you can help plan on being there. I know a lot of people have a lot of things going on this time of year so we won't make it an all day event, but we could appreciate the help. Thanks

some change for a change

The kids at the Stuart church of Christ have decided to help some people out by gathering up their change to go towards meeting some of the needs of people in the area. Their focus is coats and shoes for this winter, but they have even more plans in the works. This started from a challenge I gave them to see how closely they could come to looking like the first century church that we read about in Acts. In Acts 2, after the church began, the first Christians began selling their possessions to give to the poor. Later in Acts 4 we see that they were still doing it, so much so that no one had any needs among them. Be sure to encourage them to continue to be a light in the world as Jesus wants us to be.

Giving is something anyone can do, and its something that God rewards generously for. Whether you're rich or poor you can give something to those in need; perhaps an encouraging word, or a smile, or a compliment, maybe your time and obviously money or other personal possessions. At a time when people are nervous about tomorrow, let each one of us stand out as the light that God has called us to be, the guiding light for tomorrow.

sports in stuart!

Here's the Stuart Hornet's game schedule for tomorrow. I'm sure this is for me more than anyone else, I just got the schedule and have been intending on making it to some games but just haven't made the long trek across the road - shame on me! Anyways, hopefully I'll be able to make a few of these and I thought just in case anyone else didn't know when our Hornet's played I'd start putting the game schedule on here. I'll get the rest put on later.

September 10th

Go HORNETS!

What's new at Stuart?

sometimes its tough starting new things, but beginning something new with Jesus is much easier. Many people decide to make changes to their life, but the fear of doing that new thing, or the discipline of sticking to it usually gets them to quit. I hope this is an area that you can post your thoughts about your walk with God and express your feelings about the decisions you'll make throughout the year.
